Monogram Lighting is a great way to Personalize your special day and bring additional Style & Elegance to your wedding reception. It is a specialized service that takes some thought and planning. We sit with our clients and help them create a design that fits the theme of their event.
Monogram designs can be as simple as the bride & grooms first names or initials with the grooms last name to more custom designed themes such as a heart with there names inside. These designs can be in black & white or color.
The design is then cut in either metal or glass gobo and placed in a specialized projector and illuminated on the floor, wall or any surface within the room. In the photo to the right a gobo design with the bride & grooms name in a heart is projected on the floor. This is a black & white gobo.
Monogram lighting can be used to draw attention to a certain area such as a backdrop for the cake table area or behind your head table. Combining Uplighting in conjunction with Monogram Lighting can be visually stunning!
How is the Monogram design created?
We first start with the design process. We have a catalog of predesigned templates you can choose from or we will be happy to have one custom designed for you. Once you decide what design will be used, the camera ready artwork is produced and we order your customized gobo. A gobo is a round piece of metal or glass that fits inside a Gobo Projector. Metal gobo’s are the most cost effective and produce a nice image, however a glass cut gobo is more expensive but provides a more clean and elegant look. Although it is quite a bit more expensive to produce a color glass gobo, it is truly Stunning!
Gobo Projectors?
In an effort to save money, some recommend using a regular multimedia projector to project monograms. We strongly advise against this as multimedia projectors are usually not bright enough and use a transparency ( not a gobo) to display the design. This results in a poor reproduction and takes away from the monograms effect. We use a specialized gobo projector designed specifically for displaying monograms. It uses a high intensity discharge lamp for a brighter & more focused display.
